P. FROMMER'S GUIDE ITALY 2007 writes:
ìOne of the best enterprises in Rome As the Romans Do, the brainchild of
historian and author, Dr. Alan Epstein, who also wrote a wonderful companion
book by the same title; itís a must read for anyone curious about local culture.
Alanís wife, Diane Epstein, directs the culinary and photography adventures.
They have lived in the city for over a decade, and have a knack for sprinkling
interesting trivia into their excursions. Their private explorations are very
comprehensive, worthy of their higher fees, and the most personalized of any
other services.î

OPRAH: Here is an intimate tribute to the vibrant character and style of one
of the world's most spectacular cities. In 1995, after a twenty-year love affair
with Italy, Alan Epstein fulfilled his dream to live in Rome with his wife and
two sons. In As the Romans Do, he celebrates daily life in his dramatic, ancient
city that formed the hub of a far-flung empire and introduced Mediterranean
culture to the rest of the world.

out of the daily grind-we believe today's show will provide you with motivation!

in their way. It's your time to go for it!
Bella Roma!
Alan dreamed of living in Rome for over 20 years. When he married Diane, he
found a partner who shared his passion for Italy. They soon made a plan to follow
their dream, researching schools and drawing up a business plan. Even with a
plan, they faced challenges once they moved to Italy with their two small children.
They had car accidents and their original business failed. However, Alan says
that these obstacles and knowing he's followed his dream have made him a more
tolerant person. Alan remarks, to live among the beauty and culture of Italy
"makes his soul feel good."
To hear more about their experience, you can check out Alan Epstein's book As
The Romans Do.
